During the DSEI international arms exhibition in London, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal met with the head of the German defense concern Rheinmetall AG, Armin Papperger. Following the talks, it became known that the company will build a new ammunition production plant in Ukraine. Shmyhal wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
According to him, Ukraine has already allocated land in a safe region for the construction of a new enterprise that will manufacture ammunition for the needs of the Defense Forces.
The parties also discussed strengthening cooperation in other key areas:
- Armored vehicles: They discussed the development of the production and repair of armored vehicles in Ukraine, as well as the possibility of supplying new models from Rheinmetall to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- Air defense: They agreed on the joint development and improvement of air defense solutions that will help Ukraine more effectively combat enemy drones.
Shmyhal expressed gratitude to Rheinmetall for its support and development of large-scale joint projects, which are essential for strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
