Paralympics 2024: Ukrainian team wins 82 medals

The Ukrainian national team won 82 medals at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. After ten days of competition, this was the fifth best result among all national teams and the seventh in the medal standings. In total, Ukrainian Paralympians won 22 gold medals, 28 silver medals, and 32 bronze medals.

The victorious journey of Ukrainian athletes in Paris began on August 30, when Anton Kol won silver in the 100-meter backstroke, Iryna Poyda won silver in the 200-meter freestyle, Anna Gontar won bronze in the 50-meter freestyle, and Oleksandr Komarov also won bronze in the 200-meter freestyle.

Later, swimmer Oleksandr Komarov won Ukraine’s first gold medal. Three more silver medals were won by Vladyslav Bilyi in javelin throwing, Iryna Poyda in swimming, and Natalia Kobzar in running.

On September 1, Ukraine won 11 more medals: four silver medals were won by Volodymyr Ponomarenko, Yegor Dementiev, Anna Stetsenko, and Andriy Trusov. Roman Danyliuk, Viktor Didukh, Iryna Shynkariova, Yaroslav Denysenko, Anna Stetsenko, Anton Kol, Yevhen Bohodayko, and Maryna Piddubna won seven more bronze medals.

On the fourth day of competition, Ukraine won eight more medals. Among the medalists are Oksana Zubkovska and Mykhailo Serbin with gold medals; Roman Poliansky with silver; and bronze medals for Yevhen Bohodaiko, Artem Kolinko, Danylo Chufarov, Danylo Semenikhin, and Anna Gontar.

On the fifth day of the competition, the Ukrainian team won eight medals: gold for Denys Ostapchenko and Ihor Tsvetov, silver for Andriy Trusov and Ilya Yaremenko, and bronze for Serhiy Palamarchuk, Oleksiy Virchenko, Oleksandr Lytvynenko, and Zoia Ovsiy.

The Paralympians won ten medals at once on the sixth competition day – four golds, three silvers and the same number of bronzes. The awards went to Yuriy Shengur, Andriy Trusov, Ihor Nimchenko, Danylo Chufarov, Yulia Shulyar, Oleksandr Yarovyi, Natalia Kobzar, Maksym Koval, and Olena Fedota-Isaeva.

Ukraine won four golds on the seventh day of the Games. Yaroslav Denisenko, Andriy Trusov, the swimming team of Marina Piddubna, Oleksiy Virchenko, Anna Stetsenko, and Yaroslav Denisenko, and Anastasia Moskalenko took the first place on the podium. Maxim Veraksa, Anna Stetsenko, and Maria Shpatkovskaya won silver.

On the eighth and ninth days of the Paralympic Games, the Ukrainian team added 15 more medals. Maria Pomazan, Natalia Nikolaychyk, and Yegor Dementiev won gold medals. Oksana Boturchuk and the men’s goalball team brought Ukraine silver: Vasyl Oliynyk, Anton Strelchuk, Fedir Sydorenko, Yevhen Tsyganenko, Rodion Zhigalin, Oleksandr Toporkov, as well as Denys Ostapchenko, Danylo Chufarov, and Liudmyla Danylina. Bronze medals were won by Pavlo Bal, Angela Havrysiuk, David Khorava, Danylo Chufarov, Yaroslav Semenenko, Anna Gontar, Oleksandr Komarov, Iryna Poyda, Olena Fedota-Isaeva, and Maksym Nikolenko.

On the tenth day, Ukraine won 12 more medals: five gold, three silver, and four bronze. Among the medalists are Ihor Tsvetov, Mykola Synyuk, Viktor Didukh, Maryna Lytovchenko, Yuriy Babynets, Anastasia Garnik, Oleksandr Nazarenko, Andriy Trusov, Ihor Nimchenko, Denys Ostapchenko, and Serhiy Palamarchuk, and the team of epee fencers – Yevhenia Breus, Natalia Morkvych, Olena Fedota-Isaeva, and Nadiia Dyolog.

On the last day of the 2024 Paralympics, Ukrainians won one gold (Vladyslav Yepifanov) and two silvers (Maryna Mazhula and Anton Kriukov).
