Ukrainian actor Oleksandr Rudynskyi has joined the cast of the live-action adaptation of the iconic anime ‘Gundam,’ produced by Netflix in partnership with Legendary Pictures. The film is currently being shot in Queensland, Australia. The project is helmed by director and screenwriter Jim Mickle.
The main roles are portrayed by Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo. The cast also includes Jason Isaacs, Jackson White, Javon Walton, Michael Mando, Shiori Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Ida Brook, and Gemma Chua-Tran.
The movie’s story revolves around the conflict between two pilots of combat robots on opposite sides of a prolonged war between Earth and its space colonies. This conflict escalates into a pivotal confrontation that will shape humanity’s future.
‘Gundam’ is one of the most influential and longest-standing franchises in anime history, having shaped the mecha genre and uniting numerous series, feature films, manga, and video games.
For Oleksandr Rudynskyi, participation in this project extends his international career — he had previously collaborated with Netflix, notably appearing in the series ‘Decameron.’ The film’s premiere date has not yet been announced.
