The creative duo of Ksenia and Anton Schneider continues to embody the idea of design without design on iconic adidas silhouettes. Last summer, in the first collection with Adidas Originals, Superstar sneakers debuted with the Ukrainian translation of the name in white and mint colors. This year, the new collection includes an updated “Superstar” in black with contrasting external seams.
Changes from KSENIASCHNAIDER are also evident in the Samba sneakers, historically created for football and reimagined by many world designers. In the signature interpretation from the Ukrainian brand, the sneakers are made from knitted fabric, reminiscent of the iconic Patchwork Cardigan from KSENIASCHNAIDER.
“I remember how meticulously the adidas design team and Anton chose the placement for each patch on the clothing and shoes, so they looked as ‘accidental’ as possible,” said Ksenia Schneider.
The designer also recalled the creation of the box bag, which sneakerheads and fashionistas worldwide are already hunting for: “Anton saw a shoe box lying around somewhere in the adidas office in Herzo and immediately attached his belt to it, approached the team, and said, ‘We have to make such a bag!’ That’s how it all started, taking the classic box for children’s shoes as a basis. Later, it evolved into a big idea celebrating a shoe box — we scanned the box in its unfolded form and used it as a print for a T-shirt and hoodie. It’s a great example of cool things emerging from playing around.”
The second collection of KSENIASCHNAIDER × Adidas Originals is available in offline and online adidas stores worldwide. In Ukraine, the collection will be available in May, so stay tuned.
