Japan is considering purchasing Ukrainian strike drones for the Self-Defense Forces after Ukraine successfully used them in the war against Russian aggression.
According to sources, Ukraine has improved drone development technologies based on combat experience. It is now offering Japan a supply agreement. Tokyo will make a final decision after comparing Ukrainian drones with analogues from other countries.
In particular, options from Israel are being considered. Still, due to the political situation around the Gaza Strip, the Japanese authorities believe that Ukraine will have a better chance of gaining public support.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense noted that Ukrainian drones are characterized by high resistance to electronic warfare (EW) and a long flight range.
In addition to direct purchases, Japan expects to receive drone technologies for its own production.
