Forbes reports that over the past year, Ukrainians bought more than $30.7 billion of foreign currency (dollars, euros, and others) and sold $18.5 billion. This is evidenced by the NBU data.
Compared to 2023, the volume of foreign currency purchased was 33.5% higher.
Cash purchases of foreign currency were more prevalent in 2024, amounting to $25.9 billion, while individuals purchased $4.8 billion in non-cash transactions.
At the same time, households sold $18.5 billion of foreign currency in 2024: $14.9 billion in cash and $3.6 billion in non-cash.
Net foreign currency purchases in 2024 amounted to more than $12.2 billion, up 2.5 times from $4.8 billion in 2023.
