PSG defender Ilya Zabarnyi became the fourth Ukrainian winner of the Champions League. In the final, the national team defender beat Arsenal in a penalty shootout – 1:1 (pen. 4:3).
Zabarnyi won the European Cup in his debut season for PSG. He joined the team in August 2025 from the English Bournemouth for 63 million euros.
During the season, Zabarnyi played in seven Champions League matches, six of which he played in the main round. In the final, he came on as a substitute in extra time – this was his debut in the playoffs.
Among Ukrainian football players, Andriy Shevchenko, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, and Andriy Lunin have so far won the Champions League. The Real Madrid goalkeeper is the only player to have won this trophy twice.
In total, Zabarnyi has already won four titles with PSG: the championship and the French Super Cup, and, on the international stage, the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
