The streaming service has acquired the rights to broadcast this film, “How is Katia?”, which won the national competition at the Hamburg and Locarno film festivals. The film’s director and screenwriter, Kristina Tinkevich, is thrilled that their work will be presented alongside the works of recognized international artists under the auspices of the powerful and prestigious HBO brand.
The drama tells the story of Anna (played by Anastasia Karpenko), an emergency room doctor and single mother who is the mainstay of her family. She plans to give her child a better life. Still, an unexpected and shocking tragedy can destroy everything, leaving her alone with an indifferent system and an infinite loss. The leading roles were played by Anastasia Karpenko, Kateryna Kozlova, Tatyana Krulikovskaya, Alexey Cherevatenko, Irina Verenich-Ostrovskaya, Viktor Zhdanov and others. The film was produced by Olga Matat, Vlad Dudko, and Sergey Konnov.
The film has already gained recognition at film festivals, winning prizes at Locarno and CinEast Festival in Luxembourg. The Ukrainian premiere is scheduled for January 25.
