For the first time, the international biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has admitted that its COVID vaccine can cause a rare side effect – thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, the Telegraph reports, citing court documents.
As the newspaper explains, a class action lawsuit was filed against the company because the vaccine it developed in collaboration with the University of Oxford caused severe harm to patients or even death.
Last year, the first to report a side effect was Jamie Scott, a father of two who suffered permanent brain damage after developing a blood clot and bleeding in his brain. 51 cases have been filed with the court – the victims and their relatives are seeking damages estimated at 100 million pounds (over $125 million).
