The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has found grounds to prohibit DVL Telecom, a member of the French NJJ group, from acquiring control of Lifecell. This was reported by the AMCU press service.
The agency believes that it is necessary to check the relationship between the control of Lifecell and the parent company Turkcell and a person subject to special sanctions by the National Security and Defense Council.
The AMCU also noted that during the consideration of applications for DVL Telecom’s acquisition of control over Lifecell and Ukrtower, the grounds for prohibiting these concentrations were identified. Given this, AMC cannot grant a separate merger clearance to acquire Global Billi as it constitutes a single transaction with Lifecell and Ukrtower.
Therefore, on March 7, AMC resumed considering the merger case involving DVL Telecom’s acquisition of control over Lifecell, Global Bilgi, and Ukrtower. The AMC has also started consideration of a case regarding concerted actions directly related to these concentrations.
