Every year, animation becomes increasingly popular among Ukrainian and foreign audiences. Today, one of the most famous animated short films is I Died in Irpin by Ukrainian director Anastasia Falileieva. The artist has won many awards, but her film continues to conquer the world. It will soon compete in the international competition of the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, which will run from January 30 to February 8, 2025.
The short film tells the story of Anastasia and her family in the first days after Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine, and in particular, the partial occupation of the Kyiv region. On February 24, 2022, the film’s director and her boyfriend left Kyiv for Irpin. They spent ten days in the besieged city and managed to go with the last evacuation convoy. Time passes, but the protagonist feels she has died in Irpin since then.
The film was selected to participate among 8200 submitted works. The competition program included 64 films from 49 countries
