22 Ukrainian universities were included in the list of the best universities in the world according to the World University Rankings 2026. It is compiled by the leading agency Times Higher Education. This is five universities more than in 2025.
17 Ukrainian universities were included in the 2025 world ranking, which is one of the most influential sources of data on university performance in the world.
According to the results of this year’s ranking, Sumy State University was again recognized as the best Ukrainian university. It was established at the level of 1001 – 1200 positions in the world ranking.
Ternopil Horbachevsky National Medical University entered the 1201 – 1500 positions.
The other 20 higher education institutions from Ukraine were placed at positions 1501+.
The University of Oxford in the UK was named the world’s best university for the tenth consecutive year, thanks to its high scores for its research environment. Second place went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and third place went to Princeton University in the US and the University of Cambridge in the UK.
