Reuters reported that Hungarian airline Wizz Air plans to resume flights to Ukraine as soon as a ceasefire with Russia is announced.
According to CEO Jozsef Varadi, the company is ready to open about 30 routes to Ukraine within six weeks.
This coincides with the estimates of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which believes it will take six to eight weeks to safely reopen Ukrainian airspace.
“We have a clear plan to resume operations in Ukraine because I believe it can happen anytime. As soon as the ceasefire is announced, we will start the recovery process,” Varadi said.
Within six months, Wizz Air will open bases in Kyiv and Lviv.
In the future, the company expects to carry 5 million passengers a year on 60 routes.
