USAID has frozen several projects in Ukraine, including support for schools and medical care. Halyna Tretyakova, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy and Veterans’ Rights, announced this on Facebook. This decision was made after Donald Trump’s decree to end aid to foreign countries.
The list of frozen projects also includes emergency maternity care and childhood vaccinations.
In general, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will decide whether to extend, modify, or terminate programs after the 85-day review is completed. Until then, he can approve exceptions.
According to the memorandum, Rubio has already authorized emergency food aid.
USAID is one of the main sources of American funding in Ukraine, including military aid.
