Ukraine is one of the world leaders in terms of cryptocurrency adoption. Between July 2023 and July 2024, the country received $106 billion in cryptocurrency, and Ukrainians spent $882 million on buying bitcoins. This is evidenced by the data from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) report.
The EBRD notes that the growth of crypto activity in Ukraine is primarily associated with institutional transfers (volumes ranging from $1 to $10 million) and professional transactions (from $ 10,000 to $1 million). This indicates the active participation of both large players and professional traders.
As of mid-2024, there were approximately 560 million cryptocurrency owners worldwide.
Ukraine, along with Nigeria, is among the top ten countries in terms of digital asset usage, while Turkey ranks 11th in Chainalysis’ Global Crypto Adoption Index 2024. Ukraine is after only India, Nigeria, Indonesia, the United States, and Vietnam.
