Ukrainian woman becomes U19 world vice-champion in climbing

In the Italian city of Arco, at the Youth World Climbing Championship, Ukrainian Rafael Kazbekova won a silver medal in the “difficult” discipline. This season, the athlete made her debut in the older age category (U19).

Kazbekova successfully passed the qualification and reached the final with the second result. In the decisive round, four climbers showed the same result, reaching 34+.

Since the final result was equal, the distribution of awards was determined by the results of the semi-finals. Thanks to high preliminary scores, the Ukrainian took second place, losing only to Austria’s Anika Dübler.

Rafael Kazbekova climbs to the podium of the Youth World Championship for the second year in a row. At the 2025 competition, she won the gold medal in the same discipline, competing in the younger age group (U17).

In total, this year’s World Championships in Arco brought together more than 750 athletes from 69 countries, competing for awards in difficulty, speed and bouldering.
