Ukrainian sports scientists to undergo internship at Rice University

Ukraine to be represented at the US Independence Day celebration in Washington, DC

The leadership of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the State Institution “Sport for All,” heads of Ukrainian sports universities, research institutions, and Rice University (USA) representatives participated in an online meeting.

According to the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ press service, the main topic of the meeting was establishing a partnership in the field of science and exchanging experiences between Ukrainian specialists and American scientific institutions.

They discussed the possibility of sending Ukrainian sports managers and scientists to Rice University for internships, knowledge exchange, research involvement, and study of world practices in medical support, rehabilitation, and scientifically based training of athletes.

“We are open to international cooperation in sports science, as we want Ukrainian athletes to access the best international practices in training, medical support, and rehabilitation. Creating a modern sports science ecosystem is one of our strategic priorities. Cooperation with Rice University is an important step in this direction,” emphasized Matviy Bidnyi, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

The planned cooperation also involves Ukrainian sports universities participating in joint projects with Rice University research centers, exchanging publications, participating in international conferences, and deepening practical knowledge in sports medicine and physiology.

During the meeting, Rice University Vice President Tommy McClelland assured us of his readiness for practical cooperation and confirmed that this year, the American side would be able to host the first Ukrainian specialists – sports science managers and researchers in sports.
