In the city of Drohobych, Ukraine, a new world record in body art has been officially recognized. Twenty-eight-year-old Oleh Karpa created a complex of 230 tattoos on his body, intricately reproducing the structure of the human skeleton. This feat surpasses the previous record held by Canadian artist Rick Genest (Zombie Boy), who had 139 similar tattoos. The preparation for this record spanned several years, during which the designs were applied to form an anatomically accurate model. The tattoo count was conducted over approximately 3 hours in collaboration with a medical examiner, who verified that the drawings adhered to real anatomy. The efforts considered not only the main bones but also small anatomical elements, including sesamoid bones and the intricate bones of the hands and feet, which are often omitted in simplified models. Oleh decided to leave his face free of tattoos to maintain privacy in daily life. By profession, he is a forensic medical nurse at a morgue and a thanatology practitioner, conducting relevant training sessions. The achievement has been officially recognized as a world record, as announced by Lana Vietrova, head of Ukraine’s National Registry of Records.
