The Ukrainian men’s national rugby sevens team won silver medals at the Costa Blanca Rugby Sevens international tournament in Benidorm, Spain.
According to the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, the team participated in the competition during a training camp and as part of their preparation for the European Championship.
On their way to the medals, the Ukrainians navigated a challenging tournament, competing against teams from 12 countries. In the group stage, they secured two victories (against the U.S. and Finland) and suffered a loss to France.
In the playoffs, the team first defeated China (21-17) and then secured a hard-fought victory over PYRENEES-7s (21-19), avenging their loss in the group stage.
In the decisive match for first place, the Ukrainian national team faced off against the Portuguese team. The match ended 22:5 in favor of the opponents, securing second place for the Ukrainians.
