Seventeen-year-old Ukrainian driver Oleksandr Bondarev claimed victory in the third race of the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC) round at the legendary Imola circuit in Italy. The achievement is particularly significant for the young racer, as it came on his debut in the championship, which represents an important step on the path to Formula 3. The Imola weekend marked Bondarev’s first appearance in this highly competitive racing series. FREC features more powerful cars, higher speeds, and a strong international field of drivers. Despite the unfamiliar conditions and the high level of competition, the Ukrainian immediately demonstrated his pace and ability to fight for the top positions.
The highlight of the weekend came in the third race, when Bondarev crossed the finish line in first place. As a result, his FREC debut concluded in the best possible way—with a victory at one of Europe’s most iconic racing circuits.
The achievement is also significant for Ukrainian motorsport. Bondarev’s performances on the international stage are helping to raise the profile of Ukrainian motorsport and demonstrate that Ukrainian athletes can compete at the highest level, even against a highly competitive international field.
This season, Bondarev’s title sponsor is Autostrada, which supports the Ukrainian driver in his pursuit of new sporting achievements and professional development. The partnership is aimed at supporting his continued participation in international competitions and his progression to the next stages of his racing career.
The victory at Imola represents an important milestone in the 17-year-old driver’s sporting journey. Ahead of him are further championship rounds, battles for podium finishes, and the opportunity to continue his progression toward Formula 3.
Every such achievement is not only a personal milestone for the driver but also another opportunity to see the blue and yellow flag flying on international racetracks. Ukrainian motorsport has a promising new representative whose performances will be followed by fans both in Ukraine and around the world.
New starts, fast laps, and battles for victory lie ahead. Imola was only the beginning of a new chapter in Oleksandr Bondarev’s racing career.
