Ukrainian may become the second foreign language in schools in the German state of Hesse. As of May 2024, a competition for future specialists and teachers has already been announced. However, it has yet to be discovered when the training will begin.
Armin Schwarz, the state Minister of Culture, emphasized that Hesse demonstrates solidarity with Ukraine with this decision. Meanwhile, Manfred Penz, the Minister for International Affairs, said that the state wants to contribute to the preservation of Ukrainian identity and culture.
