Ukrainian Grandmaster Vasyl Ivanchuk will become a new member of the World Chess Hall of Fame. His name will be included in the list of outstanding figures of world chess during a solemn ceremony to be held in October 2026 in St. Louis (USA).
Vasyl Ivanchuk is one of the most titled Ukrainian chess players, a winner of hundreds of international tournaments, an Olympic champion as part of the Ukrainian national team, and a multiple contender for the world chess crown.
Together with Ivanchuk, the World Chess Hall of Fame will be inducted this year by Israeli Grandmaster Boris Gelfand, Swedish chess player Ulf Andersson, Georgian chess player Nana Ioseliani, and the 12th world women’s champion Oleksandra Kosteniuk.
After the ceremony, the World Chess Hall of Fame will include 61 chess players and figures who have made significant contributions to the development of this sport.
