The Ukrainian film “U Are the Universe”, directed by Pavlo Ostrikov, won the first international award at the Strasbourg Film Festival.
The film received the festival’s main honor, the Golden Octopus and the Silver Melies award. The latter paved the way for the film to compete for the most prestigious European genre film award, the Golden Melies.
“U Are the Universe” debuted in the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Discovery program. In 2020, the film became one of the winners of the 14th State Film Agency competition.
We should expect to see “U Are the Universe” at the Ukrainian box office in spring 2025.
“U Are the Universe” is a sci-fi tragicomedy about a Ukrainian trucker, Andriy, who is the only survivor in the universe after the Earth explodes. He is contacted by a French scientist, Catherine, and they decide to fly towards each other despite the great distance.
