The Ukrainian documentary “Traces,” directed by Alisa Kovalenko and Marysa Nikityuk, won a resounding victory at the Berlin International Film Festival.

The film won the main audience award of the Panorama program. It is worth noting that this is the first Ukrainian documentary film to be recognized by the jury in this program in the history of Ukrainian films’ participation.
This year, 12 films were presented in this section, and more than 26 thousand people voted.
“Traces” is a collection of six poignant stories of Ukrainian women who survived sexual violence during the Russian war. The authors show not only pain and trauma but also the inner strength of the heroines, their dignity, and their fight for justice.
