Ukraine will need at least $120 billion for defense next year

Next year, Ukraine will need at least $120 billion for defense. This was announced by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal during a meeting of the heads of Ukraine’s diplomatic missions abroad.

Shmyhal outlined the strategic goals and priorities of Ukraine’s defense, as defined by the President.

“More Ukrainian weapons — 50% should be purchased in Ukraine; more foreign companies willing to cooperate with Ukraine and work in Ukraine; more supplies of weapons and non-lethal aid, which can also be provided by neutral countries,” the defense minister said.

He emphasized that “special focus is on new supplies of the most effective means of protecting our skies, in particular those capable of shooting down ballistic targets.”

The defense minister added that additional funding is also needed to develop the Ukrainian industry, particularly in the production of FPV drones, long-range drones, and interceptors.
