Ukraine’s national debt rose by $1 billion in May

The number of bankrupts in Ukraine is increasing to a record high

The total amount of Ukraine’s public and state-guaranteed debt reached $180.97 billion at the end of May, according to data from the Ministry of Finance.

As of May 31, 2025, Ukraine’s public and state-guaranteed debt totaled 7,515.21 billion hryvnia, equivalent to $180.97 billion.

“During May 2025, Ukraine’s state and state-guaranteed debt increased by UAH 34.88 billion in hryvnia terms and by $1 billion in dollar terms,” the report said.

In particular, the state and state-guaranteed external debt totaled UAH 5,584.80 billion (74.31% of the total amount), equivalent to $134.48 billion; the state and state-guaranteed internal debt amounted to UAH 1,930.41 billion (25.69% of the total amount), equivalent to $46.48 billion.
