According to the British consulting company Centre for Economics and Business Research, Ukraine is ranked 58th among the world’s largest economies. The company’s annual World Economic League Table shows this.
The Ukrainian economy has shown resilience during the war. In 2024, annual GDP growth is estimated at 3.0%, slightly lower than the 5.3% growth rate in 2023 but still positive. However, GDP is estimated to remain 23.1% below the level of 2019, and the economy will not return to this level in the next five years.
Ukraine’s annual GDP growth rate is expected to average 4.1% between 2025 and 2029 and then slow slightly to an average of 3.7% per year between 2030 and 2039. Ukraine’s position in the “world economic league” is projected to remain virtually unchanged. From 58th place in 2024, Ukraine will rise to 57th in 2039.
The United States is expected to remain the world’s largest economy. Despite stimulus measures, China will not be able to overtake the United States as the largest economy in the next 15 years due to internal problems. India should rise to third place, overtaking both Japan and Germany.
The global economy will double to $221 trillion over the next 15 years. The main growth drivers will be Asian countries, particularly Indonesia (which may become one of the ten most significant in the world) and Bangladesh (which will rise from 37th to 21st place). The Philippines and Vietnam will also improve.
