The Ukrainian State Film Agency uses the Cannes Film Festival as a platform for implementing its projects. They offer Hollywood “bosses” a discount for filming in Ukraine.
The government is ready to give a 20 percent discount to film companies that start filming in Ukraine. And another 5 percent if the project is about Ukrainian culture.
The United States provided funding through the Competitive Economy Program to Ukraine, and the money was used to support a website with information about filming locations.
A database of locations was created with the help of USAID, which identified a number of castles, sea docks, cemeteries, beaches, factories, and mountainous terrain.
Many of these locations are located in Lviv, which is relatively far from the front line, some in Kyiv, and others on the southern coast in Odesa region, which has also been hit by rocket attacks in recent weeks.
Already, $57.9 billion has been invested in a program to support civilians with the goal of developing a “strong, diverse and open Ukrainian economy.”
