The film won the award in the Documentary Series category, beating Formula 1: Drive to Survive (Netflix), Hard Knocks (HBO), Monster Factory (Apple TV), a reality wrestling show, and Quarterback (Netflix), an American football series.
The series about Shakhtar commissioned by Paramount+ tells the story of Shakhtar’s journey in the 2022/2023 Champions League against Russia’s full-scale invasion and the players’ experiences.
The club’s CEO, Sergey Palkin, was delighted to win the Sports Emmy Award but also saddened because the series depicts the horrific days of war.
