US President Donald Trump has said that Ukraine could transfer rare earth metal deposits to the United States in exchange for US assistance in the war with Russia. He said this during a press conference at the White House, Voice of America reports.
“Ukraine has very valuable rare earth elements. We would like to make a deal with Ukraine whereby they would pay for our assistance with their rare piles of earth and other resources,” Trump said.
This proposal caused a wide response, as rare earth metals are critical for producing electronics, military equipment, and other high-tech industries.
Trump also once again accused the European Union of not supporting Ukraine enough. He said the US has provided Kyiv with $200 billion more than the EU.
