The Ukrainian State Labor Service report states that in 2024, the most popular occupations among employers were construction workers, plumbers, electricians, mechanics, welders, seamstresses, and other skilled professionals.
At the same time, some really unusual professions are rarely listed in the job listings. These include chimney cleaners, sorters of unwashed wool, watchmakers at the city hall, and mirror painters.
- Yeast cultivation technician. Last year, there were only 12 requests for such specialists.
- Piano and grand piano tuner. Only 5 vacancies appeared in employment centers in 2024. Employers required applicants to accurately tune pianos and grand pianos to the standard pitch of the tuning fork.
- Halvomixer. There have been only four vacancies in the past year. This profession brings together specialists who prepare oriental desserts made from nuts and sugar. They regulate the process of mixing protein, nut, and caramel masses and monitor the stretching of halva threads and the creation of their layered fiber structure.
- Model. The number of vacancies is also 4. In fact, this is a “living object of art.”
- Props. There are only three such vacancies per year. These craftsmen draw sketches and then create models of objects that later appear in theaters, cinemas, store shelves, and art studios.
- Pastiger. Last year, there were only 2 vacancies in Ukraine. This specialist creates wigs, hairpieces, colorful eyebrows, mustaches, and beards for theater, cinema, or the fashion industry. A pastiger is a master who can visually transform any person, even a fantastic creature.
- Embryologist. Only one such vacancy appeared in the Employment Service database last year. This specialist in reproductive medicine helps to create new lives and gives many people a chance to become parents.
