According to a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) on February 2-6, 2025, 46% of Ukrainians believe that the country is developing in the wrong direction. This is 7 percentage points more than in April 2024, when the number of such Ukrainians was 38%.
Main results of the survey:
- 38% of Ukrainians believe things are heading in the right direction (in April 2024 – 51%).
- 46% believe things are heading in the wrong direction (39% in April 2024).
- 16% of respondents could not give a definite answer.
Why is this important?
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 68% of Ukrainians believed that things were moving in the right direction, and 16% thought they were in the wrong direction. Over time, the share of pessimistic citizens gradually increased.
Possible reasons for the changes
In April 2024, sentiment was temporarily improved after the US approved assistance to Ukraine.
In early 2025, the situation deteriorated again, possibly due to economic difficulties and the duration of the war.
