The book "Notes from Ukraine" by the director of the film that won five Oscars was presented at Cannes

During the 78th Cannes Film Festival, Michel Azanavicius, the French director of the five Oscar-winning film The Artist, presented his book Carnets d’Ukraine (Notes from Ukraine) with the participation of the Cultural Forces of Ukraine.

Carnets d’Ukraine is a publication that collects Azanavicius’ observations and impressions of his trip to the front, his acquaintance with the Ukrainian military, and the activities of the Cultural Forces’ mobile groups. The author accompanied all these moments with his own sketches.

The book was published in France in February 2025 and immediately attracted the readership’s attention.

It was presented in Cannes on May 17. His fans, readers, and media representatives came to meet the world-famous director.

The Cultural Forces of Ukraine also performed for the audience works by Ukrainian and Italian composers and contemporary compositions. In particular, Taras Stolyar, bandura player, senior soldier of the 112th Tank Brigade, Honored Artist of Ukraine, who participated in the battles near Bakhmut; Olga Rukavishnikova, violinist, grenade launcher of the 112th Tank Brigade, who survived five injuries and lost an eye, winner of international competitions, performed; Yuriy Ivaskevych, an opera singer, a rifleman with the 110th Tank Brigade, who lost his leg as a result of an enemy mine explosion; Serhiy Ivanchuk, an opera singer and volunteer who was shot six times during the evacuation of civilians from Kharkiv region.
