The best result in the world: Jaroslava Maguchikh wins the tournament in Slovakia

Ukraine completes performances at the 2024 Olympics

Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Maguchikh has won the Continental Tour stage in Banska Bistrica, Slovakia. Maguchikh started the competition with a clearance of 190 cm, having missed the previous four heights. After overcoming this barrier, Jaroslawa jumped 193 cm on her third attempt, leaving no chance for her main competitor, Australian Eleanor Patterson (199 cm), as well as two-time European Championships medalist and Diamond League finalist Angelina Topic (196 cm) from Serbia.

She had no further problems with climbing heights: On her first attempt, Jaroslawa Maguchikh cleared 196, 199, and 201 cm three times in a row.

This competition in Banska Bistrica is one of Maguchikh’s favorites. In 2021, then-19-year-old Jaroslawa won (206 cm), setting the best result in history among all athletes under 20.

The victory in Slovakia was another in a series of victories for Jaroslawa that have been going on since 2024.

In early July 2024, Maguchikh broke the world record in the women’s high jump. At the Diamond League in Paris, the Ukrainian became the first woman in history to clear 210 cm. Yaroslava surpassed the achievement of Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova, who jumped 209 cm at the 1987 World Championships in Rome.

As a reminder, Maguchikh started the 2025 competition season with a victory. On February 6, at the Udin Jump Development tournament in Udine, Italy, our compatriot jumped 194 cm, winning a gold medal.
