On the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented Svyatoslav Vakarchuk with an honorary distinction. This is stated in the relevant Decree of the Head of State.
In particular, the frontman of the band “Okean Elzy” became the laureate of the “National Legend of Ukraine” award. The singer was awarded for his outstanding contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture and the inspiration that he gives to millions of people with his art.
In addition to him, the title of “National Legend of Ukraine” was also awarded this year to singer Vasyl Zinkevych, opera singer Lyudmila Monastyrska, track and field athlete and world champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh, artist Anatoliy Kryvolap, medical company commander Andriy Semyankiv, Canadian-born entrepreneur and patron James Temerty, first vice president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Volodymyr Gorbulin, and those whose names cannot be mentioned, but who made Operation Spiderweb possible.
The title was posthumously awarded to the outstanding ballet dancer and choreographer Serge Lifar.
