Sumy State University received the highest position among Ukrainian universities in the Times Higher Education ranking

During the World Academic Summit, the British rating agency Times Higher Education determined the results of one of the most influential university rankings in the world. It includes 17 Ukrainian higher education institutions.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Sumy State University took the highest position and was included in the group of universities ranked between 801 and 1,000 in the world ranking. Other Ukrainian universities from Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Uzhhorod, Kharkiv, and Chernivtsi were in the 1,501+ group.

For the first time, the ranking includes the Bogomolets National Medical University, Odesa I. Mechnikov National University, and Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 methodology evaluated universities’ performance based on 18 performance indicators, which are grouped as follows: educational activities, research environment, research quality, cooperation with industry, and international openness.

This year’s ranking includes 2,095 institutions from 115 countries. Times Higher Education analysts analyzed 157 million citations and 18 million scientific publications from the Scopus database. They interviewed more than 93 thousand researchers from around the world. Oxford University in the UK is at the top of the ranking.
