Net income of the restaurant business in Ukraine increased by 120% in 2023

The net income of the restaurant business in Ukraine in 2023 reached UAH 31.6 billion, 120% more than in 2022 and 26% more than in 2021, according to a study by YC Market.

In the regional context, Kyiv continues to dominate with a net income of more than UAH 23 billion, 72% of the industry’s income. More than 1.2 thousand companies operate in the capital, making it the country’s main gastronomic center.

The Dnipropetrovs’k region ranked second, with a revenue of UAH 1.6 billion, and the Lviv region ranked third, with a revenue of UAH 1.4 billion.

The number of companies in the industry increased by 30%: while 2.6 thousand companies were active in 2022, their number exceeded 3.5 thousand in 2023.

The number of individual entrepreneurs also increased: in 2023, 19.4 thousand new individual entrepreneurs were registered, twice as many as in 2022. In 2024, the increase in registrations compared to 2023 decreased by 4%.

The most significant number of new sole proprietorships in this industry in 2023 – November 2024 was opened in Kyiv (4.2 thousand), Dnipro (2.5 thousand), Lviv (2.3 thousand) and Kyiv (2.2 thousand) regions.

The undisputed leader is McDonald’s, which in 2023 earned more than 12.9 billion, which is almost 40% of total revenue. KFC franchisees took second place in total revenue, earning 2.5 billion.
