Meta has announced a ban on the activities of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and other Russian state media on its platforms.
Reuters reports this with reference to a statement from Meta.
“After careful consideration, we have expanded our current measures against Russian state media. “Rossiya Segodnya, RT, and other related organizations are now banned from our apps worldwide for foreign interference,” the statement reads.
The ban will be implemented in the coming days, the company added.
According to Reuters, the ban marks a sharp escalation of Meta’s actions against Russian state media after the company has taken more limited measures for years, such as blocking ads and reducing the reach of their publications.
