Mcdonald's has increased the share of products from Ukrainian producers

Today, local ingredients in the McDonald’s menu in Ukraine account for about 60% of the total, and their share is gradually increasing. This was announced by Yulia Badritdinova, CEO of McDonald’s in Ukraine, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

“Today, about 60% of our products are made of local ingredients and goods. Before the war, it was 70%. We had to substitute some items, but 60% is fairly large, and we have not switched to imports entirely,” Badritdinova said.

According to her, large suppliers in Ukraine remained partners in the chain after the reopening of the establishments.

For example, Bimbo QSR Ukraine, based in Dnipro, continues to bake buns for restaurants. It did not close for a single day and continued to work with the company after McDonald’s returned in September 2022.

The plant in Kozyatyn, Vinnytsia region, which produces meat patties for Big Macs, also continues to work with McDonald’s. Its steak is also used by the chain’s restaurants in other countries.

At the same time, some menu items had to be replaced with imported ingredients. One example was burger sauce, which was produced for McDonald’s at Chumak’s facilities before the war.

“When the plant came under occupation, we immediately switched to an alternative product supplied from Poland in our system. Now, we are gradually resuming the production of sauces based on our recipes at Ascania-Pack LLC. We have also resumed cooperation with local salad producers, who initially brought us the ingredients from Poland,” Badritdinova said.

Earlier, it was reported that the well-known McDonald’s chain plans to open six restaurants in Ukraine this year. The first restaurants will open in Uzhhorod and Chernivtsi.
