Lesya Ukrainka Ukrainian Library opened in Ottawa

Another location of Ukrainian literature has appeared in Canada – the Lesya Ukrainka Ukrainian Library, which opened at the Ukrainian school of the same name in Ottawa.

The project was made possible by the initiative of the school’s principal, Yulia Kubin, library coordinator Tamara Pastukh, support from partners Ukrainian Credit Union Limited Taras Pidzamecky Christina Levus, BCU Foundation — Mary Medyk Garbutt Future Foundation, and volunteers who helped collect books. Even the school students donated their favorite books to the library so other peers could read a fairy tale or an exciting story in Ukrainian.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Canada has also contributed to expanding the library’s collection. At the end of last year, the Embassy implemented a project with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress in Ottawa to purchase and provide the future library at the Ukrainian School with printed literature in Ukrainian. Ambassador of Ukraine Yuliia Kovaliv urged everyone to love books and read as much as possible in Ukrainian.

The newly created library is located at the Ukrainian Credit Union in Ottawa.
