The percentage of businesses started by foreigners is growing in Poland. From January to April 2025, foreigners created 13,700 sole proprietorships in Poland, with Ukrainians predominating among them, according to Biznes.Interia.
According to estimates by the Polish Economic Institute (PIE), almost 80% of active businesses registered by foreigners in Poland from January to the end of April 2025 are managed by Ukrainian citizens, and 7% of sole proprietorships are managed by entrepreneurs with Belarusian citizenship.
Among the companies registered by foreigners in Poland in 2025, 22% are related to construction, 15% provide telecommunications and information services, and 11% are engaged in other service activities.
However, last year, information and communication services (23%), construction (19%), and other service activities (10%) dominated.
In the first quarter of 2025, more than 1.21 million foreigners registered for social insurance in Poland. Ukrainians remain the largest group, although there are also many Belarusians and representatives of other nations.
At the end of the first quarter of 2025, the number of Ukrainians working in Poland reached 798,000, accounting for 65.9% of all foreigners registered with ZUS and 4.9% of all insured persons.
