Honduras plans to purchase Ukrainian-made drones to combat drug trafficking and strengthen the protection of its state borders. This was reported by Euronews.
For Honduras, this purchase is part of a broader strategy to strengthen security cooperation with foreign partners. The use of drones will help local authorities solve national security issues, in particular:
- control and monitor remote areas;
- effectively patrol and protect borders;
- point-by-point detect and disrupt the activities of organized crime and drug cartels.
Honduran President Nasri Asfoura announced his intention to purchase Ukrainian technology during the General Assembly of the Organization of American States.
The decision resulted from a meeting between the leaders of the two countries on June 19 in Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered Honduras cooperation on UAVs, emphasizing that Ukrainian drone technologies are among the strongest in the world.
