As of August 5, natural gas reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities exceeded 10 billion cubic meters. Currently, the storage facilities are 32.3% full. Despite the increase, the volume of reserves remains the lowest in at least 12 years. This was reported by the analytical company ExPro.
It is noted that for the first time since the beginning of the year, the gap has narrowed to less than 10%. Currently, there is 9% (or 990 million cubic meters) less gas in underground storage facilities than last year.
To accumulate 13.2 billion cubic meters of gas in storage facilities by November 1, Ukraine needs to pump in about 3.2 billion cubic meters in August-October. Part of the volume will be covered by domestic production.
In addition, Ukraine needs to import about 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas during August-October, which is quite realistic given the current pace of imports.
