From now on, to obtain Ukrainian citizenship, it is necessary to pass compulsory exams on the fundamentals of the Constitution of Ukraine and the history of Ukraine.
This was announced by the Ministry of Education and Science following a government meeting.
The decision applies to:
- foreigners
- stateless persons;
- those who have acquired citizenship but have the right to take the exam within two years (this is due to a postponement due to contract military service, outstanding services to Ukraine, etc.)
The Ministry of Education and Science notes that the exams require further adoption and implementation of a number of orders and regulations, as well as organizational measures – so far, only a decision in principle has been made.
An electronic account will be created for registration and an algorithm for further actions will be prepared.
The exams will consist of 20 questions on the fundamentals of the Constitution of Ukraine and 25 questions on the history of Ukraine. To ensure transparency, the exam will be recorded on video. Upon successful completion, participants will receive certificates.
