The freelance market in Ukraine is showing unprecedented growth. In the first half of 2025, the number of Ukrainians who chose the freelance format increased by 83.6% compared to the same period in 2024. The main drivers of change are the consequences of the war, the transformation of the labor market, and the development of digital technologies. This is evidenced by data from the Freelancehunt platform.
54.5% of freelancers said they started working in this format precisely because of the war. The loss of traditional jobs, general uncertainty, and the desire for flexibility and financial stability prompted many to switch to freelancing.
A Rakuten Viber survey shows a high level of support among Ukrainians: 74% see advantages in freelancing, including freedom and independence. Only 5% of respondents have a negative attitude toward this format, considering it unstable.
At the same time, 26% of respondents already have freelance experience, and only 4% of them rated it as negative. Another 30% are interested in switching to freelancing in the future.
