Four Ukrainian writers have been nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in the field of children’s and young adult literature.
A total of 263 candidates from 74 countries have been nominated for the 2026 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.
The nominees from Ukraine are Ivan Andrusyak, Sashko Dermanksy, Andriy Kokotyukha, and Galina Vdovychenko.
The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is a Swedish award for achievements in children’s and young adult literature. It was established by the Swedish government in 2002 with the aim of increasing interest in children’s literature around the world and making it more accessible to children. The prize is awarded annually. The prize fund is 5 million Swedish kronor ($513,000).
Writers, illustrators, librarians, and organizations from around the world, regardless of language or nationality, are eligible for the award. Their works must be of high artistic quality and reflect the humanistic ideals and values demonstrated in Astrid Lindgren’s work.
