On February 11, the Ukrainian Association of Great Britain in London will host the “Ukrainian Treasure Chest” exhibition from the private collection of Ukrainian ethnologist Khrystyna Shcherbyna, entitled “Dowry: Things of the Chest.”
Khrystyna Shcherbyna, a collector of ancient Ukrainian folk costumes, will present her collection, which was formed over ten years ago. The project “Dowry: Things of the Chest” aims to show the beauty of things and the regional peculiarities of ancient embroidered shirts from different ethnographic regions of Ukraine.
The exhibition will take visitors to an imaginary space featuring unique vintage shirts, towels, and hems used as the best things for a girl’s dowry. The exhibits date from the beginning to the first third of the twentieth century and are presented from different regions of Ukraine.
The event is organized by the London branch of the Association of Ukrainian Women in the UK (AUW London) and the London branch of the Union of Ukrainians in the UK. For more information, please follow the link.
