Ukrainian number one Elina Svitolina has announced an early end to the tennis season.
“I haven’t been feeling myself lately. I’m not in the right emotional state, I’m not ready to play, so I’m finishing my season. Over the years, I’ve realized that this sport is not about money, fame, or rankings – it’s about being ready to fight and give it your all. Right now, I’m just not at the right level, either psychologically or emotionally, to do that. Not every day can be productive, strong, or full of energy. Some days are hard — and that doesn’t make me weak. It just means that I’m human and I need time to rest, to feel, to breathe, to just be. So, I give myself the space I need to heal and recover, rather than forcing myself. And when I get back on the court, I want to fight at full strength and be the best version of myself for the fans, for tennis, and for myself,” the tennis player said.
Svitolina started this year at 29th place in the world rankings, and in May returned to the top 15 for the first time since January 2022. As of today, she is in 13th position.
