Ukrainian national stand to be presented at the Berlin Film Festival

In addition to the documentary “Traces”, the Berlin International Film Festival program will feature two Ukrainian films: “The Crystal Palace” (1934) by Hryhoriy Hrycher and “The Decay” (1990) by Mykhailo Belikov.

The black-and-white political drama “The Crystal Palace”, filmed in 1934 by Hryhoriy Hrycher-Cherikover based on a script by Leo Moore, has been included in the Berlinale Classics section. This is the first time a Ukrainian film has been included in this section.

The plot revolves around a young architect who refuses to work in a bourgeois environment and joins the working class in the fight against social injustice.

The film “The Decay,” about the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, has been included in the retrospective program.

The Berlin International Film Festival is considered one of the most prestigious film festivals in Europe and the world. It has been held every year in February since 1951. In 2026, it will be held from February 12 to 22.
