Ukrainian climber Polina Khalkevych won silver at the Youth World Championships, which are underway in the Italian city of Arco. The 18-year-old athlete climbed to the podium in the “speed” discipline among participants in the older age category (U19).
The Ukrainian began the tournament by showing the second result in the qualification. On the way to the final, she defeated her rivals at the 1/8, quarter-finals, and semi-finals stages. In the decisive gold-medal confrontation, Khalkevych competed against the representative of China and took second place.
The competition in Arco was Polina Khalkevych’s last youth world championship. In total, during her performances at the world championships among youth and youth athletes, the athlete won three medals: one gold and two silver.
The Ukrainian also competed at the adult level – in May of this year, she won her debut silver medal at the World Cup stage in Spain.
